Holes

We have been enjoying our Saturday after a busy week.

Journee had new beginnings on Wednesday night.
She got recognized as a new Beehive. This is a rose she received that evening.
After we got home we watched the moon and the eclipse. We even looked through the telescope and got to see Saturn and its rings. The kids were pretty excited they could tell what it was and see some color on the rings.

Thursday, Vicki and I took our littlest ones and went to Cody to get some shopping done. I am always amazed at how long it takes to get out of Wal-Mart, but I guess 3 carts of groceries later has something to do with it. I got a few hats and gloves for the kids since all that stuff is on clearance. Allie really took to the hat she got and has been wearing it almost non-stop since. It has a fun brim on it. She does look cute in it. She wanted her Chinese lantern in the picture with her, so that is what is behind her head.

We have been thrilled with the nice weather and Gerry has got to finally start putting quite a bit of time in on the house. I even got the chance to help a little yesterday. I use the word help loosely but I was glad Vicki could watch the kids and I got the opportunity. I will get new pictures soon. Gerry is busy there again today.
Kyle had his friend Kelly over this morning. After their share of the Wii I sent them out to play in the sun. After he left, Kyle and Karlee stayed out. Curious what had kept their attention all day I went to have a look. They were tunneling through some piles of dirt.

Maggie even got in on the action and took a nap in one of the many holes.

I put a beef brisket in the crock pot this morning and made hamburger buns and Journee made oatmeal raisin cookies, so we have had nice smells in the house all day. Maybe that is why Talon is so happy today. Actually, I think it is just because he is finally starting to feel better. After 6 days of fevers and a double ear infection and sore throat he had the right to be a little crabby.

Such serious concentration.
Journee loves music and always has music blaring from somewhere in the house. One of her favorite past times is guitar hero. She is getting pretty good and is able to pass songs on hard and even one or two on expert.

Today is also my nieces birthday. I was fortunate to be there when she was born 1 year ago.
We want her to know we think she is special.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUSTEE!!!!

Catch-Up

It really has been a crazy week and a half. We had been really lucky this school year with everyone staying healthy, that is until last week. Since then everyone but Kyle has been through at least one bug, some got extra lucky and got to be sick twice. The washing machine has been on overdrive and I think I may have learned how to function on 2 hours of very interupted sleep. I was sad Allie had to miss Valentine's Day at school. She is still home from school today, but is acting much better, so I hope we have had our share for awhile.
We had a bit of a break in the middle of the week and sang "Somewhere, Out There" at the ward talent show activity on Wednesday. The kids did a nice job. I think I get way more nervous than they do.
I missed doing my traditional Valentine's/Birthday sugar cookies because of all the illness :-( but maybe we can make up for it next year in our new kitchen. I definitely am looking forward to that.

Sunrise and Hair Buzz

We finally convinced Kyle it was time for a haircut on Saturday.

This picture from a couple weeks ago doesn't even do it justice. He had quite the mop.

Gerry did a nice job on his new 'Kirilenko' do. ;-) Dad thinks Kyle looks just like Andrei Kirilenko from the Utah Jazz. I have never thought so. So we decided to try the look a-like meter with Ger and Kirilenko and guess who he looked more like. Even with several tries and different pictures he always looked 10-30 percent more like Kirilenko. We laughed and then Kyle decided he wanted a hair cut similar to his to see if he would look even more like him. It is kind of hard to see that it is a flat top in the picture. I will have to try the meter again sometime.

I also took these pictures of the sunrise on Saturday so I thought Iwould share.

Six Months Old

Talon turned 6 months old yesterday. He is such a good baby. He is rarely fussy and loves to laugh, especially at Azurdey. He thinks everything she does is hilarious. You can always expect to get a great big smile when you talk to him. He loves to squeal and kick and gets very excited when the kids get home from school.

Talon can almost sit by himself and loves to roll and roll. He also likes to chew on his feet and anything else he can get a hold of, grabbing for everything that gets within his reach.

He gives all of us a reason to smile, even on our cloudy days. We are very blessed to have this special boy as a part of our family.
Happy Half Birthday Talon!

100th Day of School

Kyle, Karlee, and Allie have been counting down the days for their 100th day of school. It is finally here. They are having a 100 Days Celebration at school today. Kyle was excited that he has been able to help plan for it since he is in the student council. Karlee and Allie have talked about it every night for the past couple of weeks. Allie's class will talk about Hero Zero today and they get to dress up like super heroes. Allie decided to be 'Super 100 Girl'. It will be fun to find out all the activities they get to do today.

Roasting Marshmallows

We had a fun FHE last night. We talked about how we were saddened by Pres. Hinckley's passing and some special things about him. We also discussed what happens now and how a new prophet is called. Then we practiced our song for the ward's upcoming talent show. We topped off our night by roasting marshmallows for our treat. We did it Neapolitan style with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavored marshmallows. The kids enjoyed getting this summer treat in the middle of winter, especially since it has been so cold lately, and the different colors were a big hit. Talon even got to join in the fun by playing in the bowl.

Look-A-Like Meters

I love being able to look at friends blogs and get fun ideas. Thanks to the Trimbles for this one. I hear all the time how much all the kids look like their dad, so I thought I would put this to the test just to see how true it measured. I had to laugh at the results, but I think it kind of hurt Gerry's feelings. I am sure it depends on the pictures you put in, angles, etc. so I hope he doesn't take it too personally. I think he will always get credit for their good looks, as he should. So anyway, have a look and decide for yourselves :-) Have a good day!

Zelda

Since it has been taking up so much of my time lately, I thought I would dedicate this post to Princess Zelda. Kyle and I have been engulfed, okay addicted to, 'The Twilight Princess' on the Wii. I have enjoyed these games since High School and am very happy they keep making new ones.

Saturday Sledding

With all the snow we weren't able to work on the house Saturday, so we decided to make the best of it and take the kids sledding. Grandma Hyde joined in the fun.

True Color Test

Erica Jensen had posted test results for her 'true color' on her blog page. I thought they fit her so well that we should take a look. Just something fun to try. Thanks, Erica, for the fun idea. I posted the results on the side bar. Let us know what you think, try it out and tell us what color you are!

Friday

It is already Friday again. Crazy thing, weeks are. I thought I should at least send out a 'Hi' to everyone. I need to get over to the house and get some new pictures. It has been so cold and windy there isn't much more done. The basement walls are finished. Ger is waiting to be able to pour the floors. Hopefully soon.

I decided to include a picture of Azurdey and Talon just cause a post is always more fun with a pic. I took these last week while the others were at school.

As I was looking through the pics I remembered this one. It makes me laugh. It is one of her signature looks. Here it is because she did not want her picture taken. Funny thing is the one above was taken after this one.
